Thurgood Marshall College Fund is committed to providing students with the financial information they will need to be successful in their college education pursuits.  TMCF awards hundreds of scholarships every year to students attending one of the TMCF member colleges and universities.  To find the best college for your personal needs visit the TMCF College Engine to learn more about each of the member institutions. TMCF also provide opportunities for internships for undergraduate and graduate students.  By collaborating with corporate America, UNCF and its corporate partners achieve the shared goal of recruiting, retaining, and developing outstanding diverse talent.  Through the TMCF scholarship programs students receive not only scholarship to help with their college expenses, but they also become apart of the TMCF network of student services that provides practical leadership development training, hands-on work experience and professional and personal development opportunities.

 
How to Apply
Scholarships will only be awarded per semester based on available funding. Thurgood Marshall College Fund sholarships are NOT awarded directly to students. Scholarships are awarded to the student via the member college or university to which the student has been accepted. See "How to Apply" below.

  1. All applicants must be enrolled or accepted at one of the 47 TMCF member schools.

  2. Applications are available from the TMCF Scholarship Coordinator on campus

  3. Completed applications must be submitted along with the required attachments to the Scholarship Coordinator on campus (see list of application forms and required attachments below)

  4. Applicants should consult their schools concerning the selection process

  5. Campus Scholarship Coordinator must re-certify the award recipients each semester.
 

Applying for a TMCF Scholarship

Students interested in applying for a TMCF Scholarship
must meet the following criteria:

  • A citizen of the United States of America,

  • Full-time student pursuing a degree in any discipline at one of the 47 TMCF "member schools",

  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and community service with a high school GPA of not less than 3.0; a combined verbal/math score of 1650 or more on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or a score of 25 or higher on the American College Testing (ACT) examination,

  • Recommendation letter coming from Church, School, etc.

  • Demonstrated financial need and maintain no less than 3.0 GPA throughout academic year

Potential applicants should note that TMCF scholarships:

  • Are merit-based
    Are awarded to students with a demonstrated financial need

  • May be awarded to any class student, not just incoming freshmen

  • May be reapplied for but are not guaranteed

  • Are restricted to payment of tuition, room and board, books and fees

  • Average approximately $2200 per student per semester

  • Are awarded through the member schools, not directly to students from TMCF - Students interested in a TMCF scholarship should contact there S.C. located on each campus. for assistance with application

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund has a variety of scholarship opportunities available. Some support different schools or specific areas of interest.TMCF Scholarships are awarded through the 47 member schools. Students interested in a TMCF scholarship should contact a scholarship coordinator at any member college or university and apply through the school.

In addition to the scholarships awarded through our member schools, we do partner with other foundations and organizations on a variety of other opportunities. Currently we know about the following partnership opportunities, each with separate criteria and application guidelines:
The Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Intellectual Property Law School Scholarship

Sponsored by the American Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation, this scholarship addresses the need to increase the number of the minority intellectual property attorneys and to bring these attorneys to the attention of firms and corporations as candidates for employment. Applicants must also have a demonstrated financial need and outstanding academic performance in the undergraduate level and law school level (if applicable).

NEW HORIZONS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund have partnered with support from the Roche Foundation to help African American and Hispanic Families affected by HCV to realize their dreams. These three partners have establish a scholarship program to assists qualified applicants attain their dreams of a college education.
