I am ecstatic as well as honored to be Thurgood Marshall College Fund/STARR Foundation Fall 2007 Scholar.
I wish to express my deepest gratitude to you for supporting my education at Tennessee State University.

Without a doubt, this academic award is extremely valuable, and is helping to reduce the financial burdens of pursuing both of my degrees. Currently, I am majoring in Health Sciences with concentration in Physical Sciences, and Foreign Languages with a concentration in Spanish. In the summer of 2008, I intend on studying abroad in a Spanish speaking country in hopes of expanding my cultural horizons. I ultimately, however, aspire to become a doctor of physical therapy as well as Spanish translator.

Although balancing two majors is challenging, I am determined to stay focused and dedicated to receiving the best education possible. Again, I thank you for investing in my future, and being confident that I will continue to succeed.

Thank you for enabling me to complete my education as an economics major at Chicago State University. I am honored that i have been chosen as a Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholar. With the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Wal-Mart First Generation Scholarship, I was able to successfully pay for my education for the 2007-08 academic year.

Words cannot express how excited and grateful I am for your assistance. This award has provided me with an opportunity to bring joy and pride to my family by becoming the first to obtain a college degree. As a recipient of this award I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science this December. I will continue to work hard to exemplify the characteristics of the late Justice Thurgood Marshall. Again, thank you for believing in me.

As the recipient of the scholarship jointly sponsored by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Wal-Mart, I want to thank you so much for considering me worthy of such support.
