New York, NY – May 6, 2008 - Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), a premier organization in Black Higher Education that develops and prepares the next generation of leaders by providing resources, opportunities and advocacy to public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), students and alumni, announced today the launch of its enhanced Web site, www.thurgoodmarshallfund.org, which includes a new college search engine, TMCF TV, a collection of video programming, financial aid and scholarship information.

The newly-enhanced Web site features an HBCU search engine, designed for prospective students to identify colleges and universities based on basic search criteria such as major, location, pricing [out-of-state fees versus in-state fees] and student population. The system offers a one-stop location to gather information about member colleges and universities. Additionally, the program also includes other pertinent information related to college selection such as admission requirements, application fees and SAT requirements.

"With 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities to choose from, it was important for us to design a tool to assist students in their college identification process,” said Dwayne Ashley, president and CEO, Thurgood Marshall College Fund. “Our culture is quickly moving towards demanding instant access to information and this service will provide the same level of accessibility to inform our students while choosing an HBCU that meets their individual needs."

Visitors of the Web site will gain access to TMCF TV, a new feature that provides information on TMCF events and programs. More specifically, the Leadership Institute, career development series and highlighted sponsored events such as the Front Row Fashion Show and Annual Awards Dinner.

The Web site hosts information on the Fund’s scholarship programs, talent resourcing, internships, fundraising and research. As students prepare for college, the financial aid process can be a daunting task. Students can obtain extensive information on state grants; scholarships work study and student loans. Also, the system provides news feed on the latest news related to TMCF and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
