TMCF President And CEO, Dwayne Ashley Delivers Keynote Speech At Texas Southern University Honors Day Convocation

New York, NY – April 10, 2008 - In the spirit of preparing the next generation of leaders, Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) President and CEO, Dwayne Ashley returned to his hometown of Houston, Texas to deliver the keynote speech at TMCF member school Texas Southern University’s (TSU) Honors Day Convocation ceremony on Thursday, April 3, 2008.

Dwayne Ashley leads TMCF’s long-term planning and guides its overall strategic direction to achieve its ability to serve as a comprehensive higher education assistance organization. Under his leadership, the organization has surpassed $68 million in support raised for scholarship, capacity building and programs for the nation’s 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Mr. Ashley has become a sought after expert in the fields of youth leadership, talent development and fundraising. His passion for knowledge and the desire to share what he has learned with others has led him to write. He has written several books on non-profit management, fundraising, and youth career development and signed two of his most recent releases DREAM INTERNSHIPS!..It’s Not Who You Know…It’s What You Know!, andEIGHT STEPS TO RAISING MONEY…Measuring Your Fundraising Impact at the convocation.

“As a native Houstonian and the fact that TSU’s law school is named in honor of Justice Marshall, I am honored to have been keynote speaker for this important event that recognized the academic excellence of our students, “ said Dwayne Ashley. “Recognizing some 2,300 students in all disciplines at this convocation, we are achieving the mission of preparing a new generation of leaders.”
