SALES TRAINING PROGRAM
Thurgood Marshall College Fund Sales Training Program

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s Student Sales Training Program is unique program that provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in sales to learn the key attributes and skills required to become successful in the field, while preparing new professionals with skills that will give them a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. Sales Training Program workshops are taught by corporate sponsors, which will give students a valuable opportunity and advantage to learn firsthand from experts in their respective fields. Students increase their knowledge bank and sharpen skills in key areas such as negotiating skills, overcoming obstacles, handling rejections, and product knowledge. Students also have the opportunity to network with numerous corporate professionals and gain a better understanding of the various types of sales opportunities that are available.
In turn, the training program gives corporate sponsors the advantage of having direct access to talent that can be considered for future recruitment needs of their company’s sales force. Corporate sponsors will have an opportunity to interview students for open sales positions during the conference.
Each university nominates up to five candidates. All nominated candidates must submit a resume and cover letter expressing their interest in attending the program. All candidates are interviewed on campus by TMCF Career Counselors and two finalists are selected from each university to attend the event. Career Counselors may also select one alternate in the event that one of the two finalists is unable to attend. To assist in the selection process, TMCF provides universities with a criteria sheet for all nominated candidates. Only those candidates meeting the selection criteria will be considered for the program.
