The Thurgood Marshall College Fund will host our 2008 Membership University Professional Institute from Sunday, March 2nd to Wednesday, March 4th 2008 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year, TMCF has added two new exciting and informative tracks to the conference. In addition to the Student Sales Training Program that we provided at last year’s conference, we have added a Hotel/Hospitality Management and an Engineering track as part of the conference agenda.
These unique programs will provide an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in Sales, Hotel Management and or Engineering to learn the key attributes and the necessary skills that will give them a competitive advantage in the global market place. All three programs (Sales Training, Hotel/Hospitality Management and the Engineering seminars) will be facilitated by corporate sponsors. The focus of this conference is to give students valuable opportunities and the advantage to learn from experts in their respective fields. Students will also have the opportunity to network with numerous corporate professionals and gain a better understanding of the various opportunities available in their related majors.
All nominated candidates must submit a resume and a expressing their interest in attending the program. All candidates will be interviewed on campus by a TMCF Career Counselor. Interested students must meet the criteria below for their program of interest in order to be considered.
TMCF General Criteria for ALL three programs:
- Strong interest in one of the pertinent career fields (Engineering, Sales, Hotel/Hospitality Management)
- All candidates must be in their Junior or Senior year
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter, outgoing personality, competitive nature, ability to overcome obstacles, motivated
TMCF Sales Training Criteria:
- Open to all majors
- Minimum GPA: 2.7
- Ability to build relationships
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter, outgoing personality, competitive nature, ability to overcome obstacles, motivated by earnings potential
TMCF Engineering Track Criteria:
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Must be pursuing a B.S or B.A in one of the following Engineering programs : Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical
Hotel and Hospitality Management Criteria:
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
