Thurgood Marshall College Fund
Greetings:
On behalf of Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) 47 member public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), allow me to welcome you to a glimpse inside of 47 of the nation’s educational treasures.
This is a great time to be a public HBCU student. These fine colleges and universities offer students unique experiences in an environment unmatched by other institutions. They offer culture, rich history and rigorous academic programs. Most importantly, our member schools prepare students for leadership and TMCF is proud to be a partner in their mission for more than 20 years.
Public HBCUs have been shaping outstanding leaders for more than 168 years. They provide the world with young men and women who are distinguishable by their characteristics—confident, accomplished, productive, innovative leaders who are socially and economically responsible.
This means that you will be surrounded by the finest professors, researchers and peers who all help to shape recognized leaders that are empowered with the education, leadership skills and the confidence needed to compete in the global marketplace, lead in their chosen professions and serve their communities.
Public HBCU graduates are well-educated and well-rounded; they’re inspired and optimistic; have educated minds and entrepreneurial spirits; they’ve acquired a deeper appreciation for excellence; and a greater passion for community service. These are the campuses where leaders are shaped.
As you enjoy this guide, we are confident that you will develop a greater appreciation for what makes these 47 schools outstanding institutions and a greater understanding of how they can play a critical role in preparing you for leadership.
