"ON-BOARDING INTO INTERNSHIPS AND CAREERS"
DVD
Emphasizing its expanded focus on capacity building and program development, the Thurgood
Marshall College Fund and the Fletcher Foundation launched the DVD, “On-Boarding Into
Internships and Careers,” in 2007.
The DVD is the first in a series of career development
DVDs that the organization plans to develop and
release to provide HBCU students with critical
information on navigating and maximizing
internships and jobs.
Research conducted among students
and industries revealed that there are
common roadblocks that students
face. “On-boarding,” which was
funded by the Fletcher Foundation,
was designed as an information tool
to give students a competitive edge
in the marketplace and during the
early stages of their careers. The
DVD’s content, dramatized in
a storyline format, is cutting edge
but presents the basic skills needed
to secure internships and gain an
advantage as they begin careers.
The Fletcher Foundation, along with
Fletcher Asset Management, collaborated
with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund
to provide the tools for the DVD which is
designed to empower talented students to
better take advantage of opportunities throughout
their careers.
“The Fletcher Foundation along with Fletcher Asset Management collaborated with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to provide these tools to empower talented students to better seize promising career opportunities, a key to full participation in the American Dream.”
Alphonse Fletcher, Jr., Founder and Chairman of the Fletcher Foundation.
