The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is the only national organization founded for the sole purpose of providing merit scholarships to students attending the nation's Historically Black Public Colleges and Universities. In addition to scholarships, TMCF provides programmatic and capacity building support to it's member universities. TMCF partners with other organizations to support students in preparing for graduate and professional school through its test Prep Program.

A. TMCF is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization. The Fund is governed by a national board of directors that consists of leaders from several sectors throughout the country. The day-to-day operations of the national office are directed by the President and national staff.

A. TMCF is funded through corporate, matching gifts, foundations endowments, bequests, and individual gifts. TMCF participates in Federal, State and City workplace campaigns, and also receives donor designations through United Way Campaigns.

A. Yes, gifts can be restricted to any member school or program.
Q. How can I become more involved with the organization?
A. You can become involved through one of the member colleges and universities or at the national level. You can host a fundraiser; become an advocate for Historically Black Public Colleges; volunteer in the national office; support the workplace campaigns in your area or volunteer for the national dinner committee, celebrity golf tournament, or local special events.
Q. How are scholarship recipients selected?
A. TMCF Scholars are selected by the member universities using the standard criteria. Once recommended to the Fund, the Scholars are awarded the scholarships.
Q. Do I have to attend a TMCF college to receive a scholarship?
A. Yes scholarships are restricted to students attending TMCF Member undergraduate , graduate and Law Schools.
Q. Who is eligible for a scholarship?
A. Any entering freshman or student attending one of the member colleges or universities who meets the merit scholarship requirements regardless of race, sex creed, color, or religion is eligible to receive one of the scholarships.

A. Over 2 million throughout the country.

A. TMCF is a non-profit 501 (C)(3) organization All contributions are fully tax deductible to the extent of the law.
